Project background
The product brought several reservation types into a single platform. It needed customer-facing booking flows as well as separate tools for agents and administrators managing daily operations.
Challenges
- Different booking types required distinct availability, selection, and reservation workflows.
- Customers needed an intuitive way to choose seats and complete bookings using current availability.
- Agents and administrators needed appropriate access to operational features.
- Payment handling needed to account for failures, retries, and reconciliation.
My contributions
- Worked across MongoDB schema design, Node.js and Express APIs, and React and Next.js interfaces.
- Developed customer booking experiences and role-based agent and administrator portals.
- Integrated availability, media storage, and multiple payment gateways.
Solutions
- Built a custom interactive seat-layout engine and integrated real-time availability.
- Implemented role-based operational portals with granular access controls.
- Used AWS S3 to manage application media assets.
- Integrated PhonePe, CCAvenue, and Stripe with error handling, retry logic, and reconciliation support.
Outcomes
- Delivered booking workflows covering buses, flights, hotels, and government reservations.
- Provided dedicated interfaces for customers, agents, and administrators.
- Added payment and reconciliation capabilities to support transaction operations.
